Resurrection Is What Makes Christ Unique

“But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.” – 1 Corinthians 15:20-22 NKJV

The faith of the believer rests in one simple fact – Christ is risen from the dead. For without his resurrection we could believe in him no more than we believe in any prophet, sage, teacher, great philosopher or leader. There wer

e many prophets and leaders in the Old Testament that performed miracles similar to Christ, including healing the sick and raising other people from the dead (Elijah, Elisha). We Christians, do not bow to Christ and serve him because he works miracles alone, for that would not be fantastic enough. We serve him and bow to him as King of Kings because he did something no other man in history has done – he lifted himself from the grave by the power of God and ascended into heaven. He was God Man and He lives. Therefore, he is far greater than any prophet, sage, teach, philosopher or leader because no one else in history can make such a claim and prove it like Christ. Both biblical and roman historians testify of both his miracles and resurrection. Believing in Christ without believing he is risen from the dead is pointless and will not provide the life eternal he promises. In his resurrection, he established a new form of existence for all believers to look forward to after death. He is a new Adam, our blessed hope. He is the first fruit, the precursor to our very holy being. We shall not die, because death is not powerful enough to hold our bodies down. As our King has risen to his throne so shall all of us, his lowly subjects, rise to bow at his feat. Oh what a day we wait for to see our Lord in the clouds. Rejoice believer, nothing in your body can or will keep in a cold grave, believe in Christ and be risen from everything that ails!
