Lord, You Are My Portion – Psalm 119:57

“You are my portion, O Lord; I have said that I would keep Your words.” Psalm 119:57 NKJV

Empty is a horrible feeling, especially the kind that stems from hunger.  What a terrible feeling it is to not not know when or from where your next meal shall come.  What pain develops, groans, growls and bubbles from hunger.  The christian is to never experience any spiritual hunger because the Lord is our portion.  Yes, He feeds us like the children of Israel who where fed in the desert  – He provides manna from Heaven.  That is the very reason our Lord Jesus Christ taught us to pray to the Father and ask Him for our daily bread.  Some have their portion in the wealth of this world.  While that is all fine and dandy, all accumulated wealth is worth nothing in death.

What a hunger pains await those who find the Lord’s judgement on them for only seeking the world’s portion.  The Lord has no contempt of prosperity, He desires to provide it to His children from His own riches. Others have a relationship as a portion, but what better relationship to fill the belly than one with our Lord Jesus Christ.  Dear heart, the Lord’s portion blesses us now and fills us later in eternity.  If the Lord be your portion today, then rededicate yourself to keeping His words.  Read the bible daily and be filled with the glory of the Lord; heavenly food that will build your faith and destroy your fears.  Take a Proverb as an appetizer; the Gospel of John as a main course; and a worshipful Psalm as a desert.  Eat merily and heartily, with full expectation that the portion you have received will benefit your spiritual and natural body.  You will be stronger, you will be better, if you allow the Lord to be your portion.
