He Who Hates Correction Is Stupid – Proverbs 12:1

“Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction is stupid.” Proverbs 12:1

There are many a christian that proclaim the love of God poured out into their hearts who overlook the simplest truths of scripture. Love is an amazingly troublesome burdensome word – four letters of mayhem and responsibility. Christians ought to spend their days in volitional service to the Lord God, this is clear to most. How one serves becomes the best barometer of their spiritual maturity. If love resides in their heart, then the christian seeks and loves instruction and knowledge. Receiving instruction and knowledge are not an easy task for the instructor or the student. We all come with preconceived notions in our minds that thwart the advancement of our thinking and our service. Therefore it’s most difficult to have christian love when we are being corrected. Father God corrects his children so that that they may learn and grow. Likewise, He grants authority for correction to his shepherds so that, with the rod, they may keep the sheep from going awry. Don’t be stupid, learn to love correction, since one cannot love knowledge and hate correction at the same time. Oh, how many a christian fails in the execution of this simple truth.
