You Did Not Make The Biggest Mistake Of Your Life, God Purposed Your Storm

“Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side…..” Matthew 14:22

If the Lord leads you to a storm the Lord will lead you through a storm – this is a consolation for sure. The reality is that storms themselves cause us to doubt and question whether we are in the Lord’s will; whether we have sinned or failed; or whether have disappointed God. Perhaps we are only considering the success of the calm in our journey. In other words, if we make it to the other side without any hiccups then we are blessed. Dear child of God, you are blessed not by the calm but by the storm that the Lord makes you to face. Our aim is always getting to the finish line…success. The Lord’s aim is the substance of the successful – for the storm reveals our true character. Are we faithful in the storm? Do we cheat in the storm? Do we stress in the storm? The Lord is most pleased when we understand that the storm is for our spiritual development. Stop beating yourself up over the head with regrets for ever going down the path that led you to the storm…the pathway you took was divine. You are not a failure. God is not angry with you. His purpose for the storm is different than your purpose for the journey. You want success, you want glory and God wants faith, trust and hope. In other words, no matter what route you would have taken instead of the one you have, your success is tied to you getting through the storm that He has crafted just for you. This is not the time to cower, but to endure. It is the time to rest, trusting and believing that the Lord will bring you through THIS storm. With every row of the oar, believe that God controls the storm and it will end at its appointed time. You will get to the promised destination…..just get there knowing that God’s purpose for you in this storm will be achieved.
