Ask The Lord About It – 1 Samuel 23:2

“David asked the Lord, “Should I go and fight these Philistines?” 1 Samuel 23:2

Beyond all of David’s sins, there is one thing that made him a most special character in the bible – his heart. God labels David as a man after his own heart. At the core of David’s heart was his concern about what God thought about his life circumstances. When the Philistines had attacked an innocent village in Judah, before moving, David asked. How many mistakes do we make by moving first and asking later? Here lies an inner truth: we can ask God before we do it, or ask him for rescue after we do it. The best plan is God’s plan A, he should not be our plan B. Let us lay all of our plans before the Lord, before we do it. Doing so is an acceptable delay. So, let’s move our plans from our head and to our mouth and ask the Lord, ‘what should I do?’
