“This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing.” Romans 13:6 |
The Apostle Paul makes it very clear that government itself is God’s will. Yes, the kingdoms on the earth in some way reflect the Kingdom of God that will be fully established. This does not mean that the actions of the earth’s governments and officials are righteous, but it does mean that governing is righteous and pleasing to God. Is it not similar for marriage? Is not marriage between and man and a woman deemed holy matrimony according to the scriptures? Well, we can all testify that not all who join in holy matrimony are holy in their deeds – but that does not take away from the fact that the divinely ordained union between a man and a woman itself is still holy to God. Today, I pray for better and more righteous government and officials. Republicans and democrats both need Christ to guide their decisions so that our country prospers again. Although we may disagree with their positions on issues or their conduct, scripture says we should still honor and respect the fact that authorities are serving God’s cause whether they know it or not. Like us, God has a will for them….oh if only they could all see it. They play an important part in the world now and in the end of days (who knows if these days are our last?). A believer should not pick sides as to whom to pray for, that would be unbiblical. So vote for whoever you desire, but pray fervently that all of our authorities receive the full blessing of Jesus Christ in their lives. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit anoints them all to do what they do to the glory of our Lord. The only side we should every pick, is Jesus’. God’s will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
